Business Requirement Deliverable - Project
This module creates project tasks from the deliverables of a business requirement when it is approved, and links them to the requirement.
- Each deliverable becomes a task. Its allocated time is the deliverable quantity when it is measured in time units.
- Tasks can be created in an existing project, or in a new project created for the requirement.
- Tasks get a Business Requirement field, which can be searched and grouped by, so tasks can also be linked by hand.
- Business requirements get a Tasks smart button listing their tasks.
auto_awesome What this module does
AI-generated from the code · Odoo 18.0When a business requirement is approved, its deliverables can automatically become project tasks, either in a chosen project or in a brand-new project created for the requirement.
This module connects business requirements with project management. On a business requirement form, project users get a new field "On Approval" where they choose what should happen when the requirement is approved: nothing, create tasks in an existing project, or create a new project containing the tasks.
- If "create tasks in a project" is chosen, a project must be selected; otherwise Odoo shows an error when trying to generate tasks.
- If "create a new project with tasks" is chosen, Odoo creates a project named after the requirement, with the customer and company, and default task stages (To Do, In Progress, Done, Cancelled).
- Tasks are generated automatically when the requirement moves to approved, in progress or done, and only for deliverables that do not already have a task.
- A "Create Tasks" button appears on the requirement when tasks can still be generated, and only project users may use it.
Each deliverable becomes one task: the first line of the deliverable name is the task title, the remaining lines go into the description, and the customer, sequence and requirement link are copied. If the deliverable is measured in time, its quantity becomes the task's allocated hours. A note is posted on each task saying it was created from the requirement.
A "Tasks" smart button on the requirement shows how many tasks exist and opens them. On tasks, a "Business Requirement" field (and a read-only Deliverable field) is added to the form, list and search views, with a group-by filter, so tasks can also be linked to a requirement by hand.

OCA documentation · Odoo 18.0Usage
Source · Odoo 18.0To create the tasks of a business requirement:
- Go to Business Requirements and open a draft or confirmed requirement.
- In On Approval, choose what to do with its deliverables:
- Nothing: no task is created.
- Create tasks in a project: choose the Project in which to create them.
- Create a new project with tasks: a project named after the requirement is created when it is approved.
- Approve the requirement, or move it straight to In progress or Done. A task is created for each deliverable.
If deliverables are added after the approval, click on Create Tasks to create their tasks. Deliverables which already have a task, even an archived one, don't get a new one.
To see the tasks of a business requirement, click on its Tasks smart button. New tasks created from this list are linked to the requirement.
The On Approval and Project fields, and the Tasks smart button, are only shown to Project users. Tasks are created on approval anyway.
