Delivery Carrier Category

This module adds a simple classification layer on top of delivery methods. You can create delivery method categories with a name, a code, a display order and an active/archive flag, and then assign one category to each delivery carrier.

Where it appears in Odoo: - A new menu "Delivery Methods Categories" under both the Inventory/Delivery configuration menu and the Sales configuration menu. - On the delivery method form, a new "Category" field is shown right after the delivery type. - In the delivery methods list and search views, the category is displayed and can be used as a filter/group-by option.

Business rules and automatic behaviour: - Each category code must be unique among active categories; the database blocks duplicates. - When you create a new delivery method, the first category (by sequence) is pre-filled as the default category. - A category cannot be deleted while delivery methods still use it. - Three categories are installed by default: Delivery (DEL), Pickup (PICK) and Drop-off (DROP).

Access rights: salespeople, partner managers and stock users can read categories; sales managers and stock managers can also create, edit and delete them.

The module touches the delivery.carrier model by adding the category field, and introduces the new delivery.carrier.category model.
