Mass Operation Abstract

This is a technical toolkit, not a business feature: it gives other modules the building blocks to run the same action on many records in one go. Administrators see a new "Mass Operations" menu under Administration, where they can create a mass operation record by choosing a target model, a name, an action name, a domain (the rule deciding which records qualify) and the user groups allowed to use it.

On the operation form, the "Add sidebar button" button creates a button in the sidebar of the chosen model; "Remove sidebar button" deletes it. Once enabled, the name, model, domain and security groups become read-only, and the operation appears greyed out in the list until the button is added. Deleting an operation also removes its sidebar button, and copying one is renamed with "(copy)".

When a user selects records and clicks that sidebar button, a wizard opens. It shows the operation's message and a status banner: green when all selected records can be processed, orange when only some qualify, red when none do. It displays how many items were selected and how many remain eligible. Pressing "Apply" runs the operation on the eligible records; if none remain, an error asks the user to refresh and select again. The domain is combined with the current selection, and archived records are included when searching eligible items.
