Product BOM Cost Rollup

This module keeps the standard cost of manufactured products in line with the real cost of their components. It only applies to products whose product category uses the Standard costing method.

• On a product form you get a "Standard Cost Update Date" field showing when the cost was last rolled up, and the existing "Compute BOM Cost" button is shown only for products that have a bill of materials and are not valued in real time with FIFO or standard costing.
• On a bill of materials form you also see a "Standard Cost Update Date" field.

When the rollup runs, it walks through the bill of materials, including sub-assemblies, and adds up component costs and work center operation costs. If the resulting cost differs from the current standard price, the standard price is updated and the update date is stamped on the product and the bill of materials.

A scheduled job named "BoM Cost Rollup: run scheduler" is provided (inactive by default, every 30 days) so the rollup can run unattended. After a run that changed costs, an email is sent to the address configured in the Manufacturing settings or on the company form, listing each updated product and its new standard cost. If nothing changed, no email is sent. Products valued in real time with FIFO are blocked with an error message telling you to use standard costing.
