Product Equivalent Category

This module adds a new concept called a Product Equivalent Category. You create these categories yourself, give them a name and an optional description, and then assign a category to any product. All products sharing the same equivalent category are considered equivalent to each other.

Where it appears in Odoo: - A new menu entry 'Product Equivalent Categories' is added under the Inventory configuration menu (Stock > Configuration > Products). - On the product form and the product list, a new field 'Product Equivalent Category' appears right after the normal product category.

What the screens show: - The category form has a name, a description, and a smart button showing how many products belong to that category. Clicking the button opens the list of those products. - The category list shows the category names, and there is a search view to find them by name.

Business rules and automatic behaviour: - The product count on each category is computed automatically from the products assigned to it. - Access rights are set so that partner managers can create, edit and delete categories, while other users can only read them.

This module only defines and stores the equivalence grouping; it does not itself change stock, manufacturing or purchasing logic. Other modules can use this grouping, for example to propose an equivalent product when a component is out of stock.
