Integration between Route Planning and Stock to automatically generate routes and checkpoints from pickings.
This module automates route and checkpoint creation directly from stock pickings and integrates inventory transit locations and stock rules into Route Planning workflows.
Key Features:
- Automatic generation of a Transit Location per Route Area and corresponding stock rules.
- Automatic route and checkpoint generation upon picking validation.
- Automated validation of pickings when route checkpoints are marked as completed.
When you use the transit location created for the Route Area, the delivery is performed in two steps:
The first step moves the stock from the internal location where it is stored to the transit location. This movement represents the physical transfer from your warehouse to the transport vehicle that will perform the delivery. A second picking is created when you validate the first picking. This picking waits for the corresponding checkpoint to be completed when the delivery is completed at the customer. Once the checkpoint is completed, the picking is automatically validated.
Note: For better integration and simplicity, we recommend using this module with the route_planning_delivery module installed.
auto_awesome What this module does
AI-generated from the code · Odoo 18.0Links delivery routes and checkpoints to stock transfers: each route area gets its own transit location and stock rules, and outgoing transfers are automatically added to a route and validated when the checkpoint is completed.
This module connects route planning with warehouse operations so that delivery transfers (pickings) and routes stay in sync.
On a route area you now choose a warehouse. When the area is created or its name, code or warehouse changes, Odoo automatically creates (or updates) a transit location for that area and the stock rules that move goods from the warehouse stock to that transit location and then on to the customer.
On a transfer you get a new Route Area field and a "Route planning" button that opens the related checkpoints. When a transfer is assigned to a route area and its source or destination location matches the area's transit location, Odoo looks for a matching draft route for the same area, starting point and date; if none exists it creates one, and it adds a checkpoint for the customer. It also tries to geolocate the customer address if coordinates are missing.
Business rules added: - A transfer linked to a route that is still in draft cannot be validated until the route is planned. - A transfer linked to a route cannot be cancelled unless its checkpoint is still in draft; cancelling then creates a "Document Cancelled" incident. - Completing a checkpoint validates its transfer (and any backorder is put back on a route). - A checkpoint with a completed transfer cannot be moved back to planned. - Incident types have a new option to cancel the linked transfer, and the built-in cancellation incident type cannot be deleted.
Checkpoints show their transfer, its operations can be edited from the checkpoint form, and transfers show the route area in list and form views.

Source · Odoo 18.0- Go to
Inventory / Configuration / Settings. - Enable
Storage Locationsand save.
Configuring Route Areas
- Go to
Route Planning / Configuration / Areas. - Create or edit a Route Area.
- Set the Warehouse if you have more than one warehouse. Otherwise, the system will use the default warehouse for your company.
Upon saving, the system will automatically:
- Create or update a Transit Location under the warehouse view location.
- Create or update stock rules linking the warehouse stock location, the route area transit location, and the customer location.
Creating or Editing an Operation Type
- Go to
Inventory / Configuration / Operation Types. - Create or edit an operation type.
- Set the
Destination Locationfield to the transit location created automatically by the Route Area.
Configuring Incident Types
- Go to
Route Planning / Configuration / Incident Types. - Check
Cancel Pickingon the incident types that must cancel the picking linked to the checkpoint when the incident is created.
Usage
Source · Odoo 18.0- Create a Delivery Order using an operation type whose Destination Location is the transit location created automatically by the Route Area.
- Assign the Route Area to the picking.
- Confirm / Validate the picking.
- The system will automatically search for an existing draft route for that area and scheduled date, or create a new Route.
- A Route Checkpoint is created and linked to the picking and its partner.
- Go to the Route and plan it.
- When the visit to the customer is completed, validate the checkpoint. This will automatically validate the picking.
