Sustainability Point of Sale

This module adds carbon footprint information to Point of Sale receipts. When a product has a carbon factor set up, the Point of Sale loads that value together with the product data, so the register can calculate emissions while the sale is being made.

On the receipt, each order line that has a carbon value shows its own footprint (in kilograms of CO2 equivalent, marked with the Ͼ symbol). At the bottom of the receipt, next to the total amount, the overall carbon total for the order is printed, followed by a small legend explaining that 1 Ͼ equals 1 kgCO2e.

• The carbon value per line is the product's carbon factor multiplied by the quantity sold.
• The order total is the sum of all line carbon values, rounded to two decimals.
• Lines or orders without a carbon factor simply show nothing extra.

The module works behind the scenes in the Point of Sale screens and receipt template; it does not add new menus or buttons. It extends the product data loaded into the register, adds carbon factors to the data loaded for each Point of Sale session, and adjusts the order, order line and receipt display components. It relies on the sustainability module for the carbon factor definitions and on point_of_sale for the register and receipt.
