Chatter Position

This module adds a personal preference that controls how the chatter panel is displayed on record forms.

• In the user preferences screen, a new radio-button option called "Chatter Position" appears before the signature field, with three choices: Responsive, Bottom and Sided. The default is Responsive.
• Responsive keeps Odoo's standard behaviour, where the chatter moves depending on screen size.
• Bottom forces the chatter under the form and makes the form sheet use the full width of the screen.
• Sided keeps the chatter next to the form in a side-by-side layout.
• If a record has an attachment viewer, the chatter is kept at the bottom even when the user chose Sided.

The setting is stored on the user record (res.users) and is readable and writable by the user themselves, so each person can change it without administrator rights. The chosen value is loaded when the web client starts and applied to every form view that has a chatter.

The module changes only the display of the chatter; it does not alter messages, activities or any business data. It touches the user preferences view and the web client layout, and depends on the web and mail modules.
