This module provides the ability to edit domains via the wizard, allowing users to easily view and manage records. By doing so, it takes full advantage of Odoo’s powerful search functionality, enhancing the overall user experience and streamlining data management.
auto_awesome What this module does
AI-generated from the code · Odoo 19.0Lets users edit a Domain field by opening a record-selection dialog instead of typing the domain text by hand. The chosen records are converted into the domain automatically.
This module restores a friendlier way to fill in Domain fields in Odoo. When a user clicks the button next to a Domain field on a form, a dialog titled "Select records..." opens, showing the records of the related model so they can be picked with checkboxes instead of writing a technical domain expression.
- The dialog is a multi-select list: several records can be selected at once, and creating new records from the dialog is disabled.
- The records already matching the current domain appear as a pre-set filter called "Selected domain", so users see what the field currently targets.
- After confirming, the selected records are turned into a domain and written back into the field.
- If the list is grouped and the group-level checkbox is ticked, the domain is built from the groups instead of individual records.
It works on any Domain field in the backend, since it patches the standard Domain field widget (DomainField) and reuses Odoo's standard record-selection dialog. It adds no new menus, models, reports or scheduled actions; it only changes the behaviour of that field widget.

OCA documentation · Odoo 19.0Usage
Source · Odoo 19.0In any view with a domain field widget and model, but we'll make the example with a user filter:
- Enter debug mode.
- Go to the Settings > Technical > User Interface > User-defined Filters
- Create a new one
- Put a name to the filter and select a model (e.g.: Contact)
- Click on the record selection button and a list dialog will be opened. There you can either:
> - Select individual records: those ids will be added to the domain. > - Set filters that will be applied to the domain and select all the > records to add it as a new filter. > - Set groups that will be converted into search filters, select all > the records and those unfolded groups will be set as filters to.
You can still edit the filter with Odoo's widget after that.
