External Database Sources

This module adds a new screen where administrators can store the details of an external database: a datasource name, the connection string, an optional password, a company, and the connector type. Only PostgreSQL is available as a connector in this version.

Where it appears: - A new menu "Database Sources" under the Settings area opens a list of external database sources. - The form shows the name, company, connector, password, the connection string, and a "Test Connection" button.

Business rules and automatic behaviour: - The full connection string is computed automatically from the connection string and password; if the password is set and the string has no placeholder, a password fragment is appended before substitution. - "Test Connection" opens the connection and shows a success or failure message. - A multicompany rule restricts each source to its company (or sources with no company). - Only users in the system administrator group can create, edit, or delete these records.

What it touches: - It defines the base.external.dbsource model and its list and form views. - It provides methods that other modules can call to open/close a connection, execute a query, and browse, create, update, search, or delete records on the remote database, using the selected connector.
