Storage Media

This module adds a new "Storage Media" area to Odoo for keeping media files such as images and videos, separate from ordinary files.

Where it appears: - A "Storage Media" menu entry opens a list and form of media records, showing the file name, its media type and (optionally) whether it is public. - A "Storage Media Type" menu entry lets administrators maintain a simple list of media categories, each with a name and a code. - On a media record, a "Replace File" button opens a small pop-up to upload a new file in place of the current one. - A "Swap Storage Backend" action is available on media records from the list and form views.

Business rules and automatic behaviour: - When a media record is created, its file is automatically marked as a media file and a default storage backend is taken from a system setting (storage.media.backend_id). - The file name is automatically cleaned up (spaces and special characters turned into a URL-friendly form) when you type it. - Deleting a media record also deletes its underlying file. - The search view offers filters for Public, Private, All and Archived, and grouping by storage backend.

Access: - A new "Storage Media Manager" group can fully manage media, files and thumbnails; other internal users can only read media and media types, while only system administrators can edit media types. - A record rule restricts managers' write, create and delete rights on files to those flagged as media.
