Survey placeholder

This module adds a Placeholder field to survey questions. When you edit a question in a survey, a new Placeholder box appears near the question title. The text you type there is shown inside the answer field on the survey page, giving participants a hint about what to write.

The Placeholder field is only available for question types that have a text or value input: free text box, single-line text box, numerical box, date and datetime. For choice-based questions (simple choice, multiple choice and matrix) the placeholder is automatically cleared and the field is hidden, because those questions do not use a typed answer field.

The placeholder text is translatable, so you can provide a different hint per language, and it is stored on the question. On the participant side, the hint appears inside the text area or input box for the supported question types.

In short, it touches the survey question configuration screen and the survey answering templates, adding one configurable field and its display behaviour.
